Back to Maurice Ravel
This is an arrangement by Ravel of the orchestral work of the same name. The work was originally conceived as a ballet, with this arrangement being written for a rehearsal pianist. At various points in the score, Ravel includes in smaller text parts of the orchestration that are omitted from the main arrangement. Although intended primarily for reference, some pianists choose to include a selection of these, often by redistributing existing notes between the hands or omitting some altogether. Depending on the passage, such inclusions range in difficulty from being relatively straightforward to extremely difficult; the difficulty rating here is based on the main text only.
