Variationen über den Sehnsuchtswalzer von Franz Schubert, Anh. F24

c. 1831–1834

The set, which is incomplete, comprises an introduction and five variations on a dance (D 365 no. 2) by Franz Schubert, with a ritornello between each of the variations. Schumann re-used the introduction in the Préambule from Carnaval (op. 9).
