This suite (BWV1,2,2a 1006a; BWV3 1006.2) is an arrangement for lute-harpsichord or harpsichord of the partita no. 3 for solo violin (BWV1,2,2a 1006; BWV3 1006.1). Bach also made orchestrations of the prélude for the sinfonias to the cantatas Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir (BWV 29) and Herr, Gott, Beherrscher aller Dinge (BWV1,2,2a 120a; BWV3 120.2).
