This suite (BWV^1,2,2a 1006a; BWV³ 1006.2) is an arrangement for lute-harpsichord or harpsichord of the partita no. 3 for solo violin (BWV^1,2,2a 1006; BWV³ 1006.1). Bach also made orchestrations of the prélude for the sinfonias to the cantatas Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir (BWV 29) and Herr, Gott, Beherrscher aller Dinge (BWV^1,2,2a 120a; BWV³ 120.2).
