The instrumentation of this piece is unspecified; the catalogue of Bernd Baselt describes it as for keyboard. This piece exists in various versions: three two-part menuets (HWV 516a, HWV 516b and HWV 516c), and as part of the concerto grosso in F major (HWV 315, op. 3 no. 4), the sonata in F major for oboe and basso continuo (HWV 363a, op. 1 no. 5), and the sonata in G major for flute and basso continuo (HWV 363b, op. 1 no. 5).
