The instrumentation of this piece is unspecified; the catalogue of Bernd Baselt describes it as for an instrumental upper voice and basso continuo. This piece also exists in a version in G major (HWV Anh. A 15/9b). This is an arrangement of the aria O cara speme from the opera Floridante (HWV 14).
