Salve Polonia, S. 518

This is an arrangement of the orchestral work of the same name (S. 113i+113ii; LW G28, R. 430). Liszt also made an arrangement for piano duet (S. 604i+604ii; LW B28; R. 330). The work includes as themes Boże coś Polske and the Dąbrowski-Mazurek; the latter was also used by Liszt in the second of the Deux Polonaises de l’oratorio St Stanislas (S. 519; LW A302; R. 186) and was later to become became the Polish national anthem.

Liszt later intended to include Salve Polonia in the unfinished oratorio St Stanislas (S. 688; LW Q17; R. 671).
