Schumann prepared four further pieces for this collection, as well as a sketch for a capriccio, that he ultimately rejected. The complete pieces later became the third Albumblätter (no. 6) from Bunte Blätter (op. 99), and the Walzer (no. 4), Romanze (no. 11) and Elfe (no. 17) from the Albumblätter (op. 124).
Schumann used the same theme in the introduction to the Variationen über den Sehnsuchtswalzer von Franz Schubert (Anh. F24).
